Category ≠ niche ≠ filter.
The stop rule is simple: create a niche only when the winner changes. Otherwise the narrower condition is a filter, not another page.
A constraint set earns a scored shortlist only when it materially changes which product should win.
Budget, region, self-hosting, or open source stay filters when they narrow the field without changing the winner.
Scoring boundary: only a validated niche receives a contextual score. Categories, filters, and products carry no standalone or portable score, and Niched publishes no global software leaderboard.
